PhD research project

CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery Potential for Australian Reservoirs.

Supervisors: Hemanta Sarma, Seung Ihl Kam (Louisiana State University)

Project Support: This study is funded by the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC). Myles is a part time student who is employed part time by CO2CRC. Further information can be obtained from CO2CRC

Project Description

Although CO2 EOR is a mature process, this is only the case in North America, namely the Permian Basin in Texas. Only a handful of field applications have occurred outside of North America, and so CO2 EOR is an almost untouched topic in the rest of the world.

This project aims to determine the potential for using CO2 EOR for Australian reservoirs and what rock and fluid properties affect this potential (e.g. screening criteria)
